The Explosion That Rocked Akure Was Not An Asteroid, Gov Akeredolu Explains (Photos)

In what many people presumed to be end of the world and for others, an astroid attack in the city of Akure at about 1.00am midnight. Sources have confirmed that it was not an any of those myths.

The governor of Ondo state visited the scene at about 9.00am this morning to assess the situation of things and here is what he had to say;

''I have been briefed by the security chiefs that in the early hours of Saturday March 28th, a vehicle in a convoy transporting explosives to a storage facility in a neighbouring state developed a fault while in transit along the Akure Owo Road about 2km from the Akure Airport.

Security personnel and other individuals transporting the ordinances noticed smoke from the vehicle. After several attempts to extinguish the resulting fire failed, the vehicle and its consignment ignited causing a massive explosion that was felt in Akure and its environs.''

Buhari Will Give His Speech Very soon On Coronavirus — Lai Mohammed


Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed has reacted to the yearning of Nigerians over President Buhari not addressing the nation over the recent coronavirus outbreak in the country.
Lai said
“When it is appropriate, Mr President will address the nation. But, I think what you want to hear from Mr President are the kind of things we are telling you.
“This is not to preempt or second guess Mr President, I think he will do the needful.”

Reno Omokri Outrage on Federal Government of Nigeria


Reno Omokri cannot hold it his rage on the Federal government for refusing to impose travel restrictions despite the Coronavirus pandemic.

This morning, the Health Minister, Osagie Ehanire, confirmed the third case of Coronavirus in Nigeria, and Reno on his Instagram page, posed a question why the borders are closed against rice smuggling and not Coronavirus

''How can you close your border for rice and open it for #CoronaVirus and have the audacity to call yourself a leader? If #COVID19 kills your citizens, who will eat the rice you are protecting? Are rice and fuel more important than human beings who will buy them?'' he wrote

Federal Government Advice Senior Citizens To Stay At Home Amidst Coronavirus Fears


The Federal government has asked Senior citizens and those with existing underlying medical conditions to stay at home

 Minister of Health, Osagie Ehanire, who made the appeal today at a press briefing, said studies have shown that elderly people are more vulnerable to the virus.

Speaking at the press briefing, Ehanire said

 “It is important to note that many people who are infected with coronavirus will experience only mild symptoms and recover without incident. Of great concern are those with existing underlying medical conditions and senior citizens, who are known to be more vulnerable. We strongly advise these citizens to stay more at home. Al Nigerians are required to continue taking necessary precautions to protect themselves and their families.” he said

The Minister said the Presidential taskforce on Coronavirus will meet later today to decide on the issue of travel restriction.

With regard to banning flights into Nigeria or social activities and festivals, I will provide an update after the deliberations of the Inter-Ministerial meeting of the Presidential Taskforce on Coronavirus, scheduled for later today, headed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.” he said
