Coronavirus: FG gives advisory warning to Nigerians against traveling to China

The Federal government has warned Nigerians against travelling to China, following the recent outbreak of deadly Coronavirus in the Asian country. 

Travellers arriving the country from China or any other country where the epidemic has been detected, were also advised to quarantine themselves by staying indoors for at least two weeks.

Minister of Health, Dr. Osagie Ehanire who made the call after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting held at the Presidential Villa, also directed all airlines to report any case of a passenger falling sick on-board before the plane lands. 

He said; 

“In view of the trending stories around the Coronavirus, it has become very necessary to issue a travel advisory to Nigerians. The first is that all Nigerians and all from Nigeria, intending to travel to China should delay all their travel plans until further notice, except it is extremely essential for them to do that trip.

“All persons arriving from China or any country that has a major outbreak is advised, if they have no symptoms at all, to self-isolate, meaning that they stay indoors in their homes for at least two weeks and if they develop any symptoms, like cough, catarrh, sneezing, breathing difficulties within this period, to report to the nearest health facility.

“We are also advising all airlines to report any case of a passenger falling sick on-board before the plane lands. That is a requirement in the agreement. Nigerian Port Health Services, Nigeria Centre for Disease Control are on alert at our airports and other points of entry. That is the advisory."

Daffy Blanco, a UK based Nigerian singer called out popular singer, Peruzzi, accusing him of rape and extortion. Blanco posted on her Instagram handle @daffyblanco, that she contracted Peruzzi to write her hit songs, but he went beyond business by taking advantage of her.

She said that Peruzzi was drunk that fateful day and trailed her to the hotel room where she was lodged and forced himself on her.

She also claimed that she contacted her lawyer, who decided she settle the case outside the court, but said that, scars of the incident are still hunting her.

President Buhari Responds To Senator Abaribe's Calls For His Resignation

President Muhammadu Buhari has reacted to demand for his resignation by Senate Minority Leader, Enyinnaya Abaribe and others.
His position was contained in a statement Wednesday night by presidential spokesman, Garba Shehu.

It said just because some characters think that President Buhari should resign, then they expect him to quit.

“That call does not represent the opinion of the country. This is the opinion of an arm chair critic, known for making stray comments.

“If a leader like President Buhari needs to resign, there are millions of other Nigerians who need to resign, including Senator Abaribe who unlocked the door to enable the escape of traitorous and treasonable suspects.

“He signed the bond for the court to release Nnamdi Kanu on bail, from which moment the suspect disappeared into the thin air.
Senator Abaribe has failed repeated deadlines to return Kanu to the court for trial, yet he has the effrontery with which to accuse someone of failing to the bidding of the law.

“This is a man who should have replaced the suspects he failed to produce in the correctional facility.

“Abaribe’s party raped the nation and left it collapsing in 2015 and President Buhari is fixing things up all the years he is in office.

“President Buhari is working hard to keep Nigeria and Nigerians out of the harm terrorists have unleashed in the entire Sahel and Sub-Saharan Africa with the support of Nigerians and our foreign friends, he is going to finish off these terrorists. He alone can do it,” he said.

2 Feared Dead, 11 Trucks Burnt And Over 200 Houses Razed Down By Fire Explosion In Abule Egba

At least 200 buildings have been gutted by fire following a pipeline explosion at the Abule Egba area of Lagos.

The fire, which started Sunday evening, was alleged to have been caused by vandals who were attempting to siphon fuel from an NNPC pipeline.

Eyewitnesses claim the inferno spread to u-turn, Gatankowa Market – popularly known as Super – and Ilepo areas.

An eye witness, simply identified as Charles, said:

“My wife alerted me about the explosion. She said the fire was serious.

“I have called firefighters, they told me that they were already on their way. They said someone had already alerted them about the fire.”

Later on in the night, men of the Lagos State Emergency Response Agency, LASEMA and other First Responders already mobilized with the activation of the Lagos State’s Emergency Response Plan.

The Lagos Commissioner for Information and Strategy Gbenga Omotoso, reacted to the Pipeline outbreak, saying: “A pipeline fire has been reported at Abule-Egba. LASEMA and other security/emergency agencies have activated their machinery to fight the fire”. Two bodies have been recovered by LASEMA from the inferno.

VAT increase takes effect from February 1, 2020 - FG tells Nigerians

The Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Mrs. Zainab Ahmed on Thursday January 16 announced that the increased Value Added Tax (VAT) from 5 to 7.5 percent will take effect from February 1, 2020.

Here's what she said; 

“I want to state that one of the key provisions in the finance act 2019 that have elicited a lot of interest is the increase in the VAT from 5% to 7.5%, and to remind us all, the finance bill has made copious provisions to improve the ease of doing business; so we have a category of companies that have turnover of 25% and below that will be paying no taxes at all, and also we have reduced tax rates for companies that have turnover from 25 million to 100 million from 30% to 30%.

“The essence of this is to encourage formalization of businesses from the informal sector and also to encourage businesses to grow and become more productive, thereby increasing employment and also meeting the commitment of Mr. President to remove 100 million Nigerians out of poverty over the next 10 years.

“The effective date for the VAT increase from 5-7.5% will be the 1st of February 2020."

President Buhari Will Leaves For London To Attend UK-Africa Investment Summit

President Muhammadu Buhari will depart Abuja Friday for London to participate in the inaugural UK-Africa Investment Summit holding on Monday, January 20, 2020.

The summit will deepen Nigeria-United Kingdom investment ties post-Brexit given that Africa currently represents just two per cent of British trade activity, with Nigeria accounting for only 10 per cent of that total.

The Nigerian delegation to the investment meeting will further showcase what the Federal Government has done through policies and legislations to improve the investment and business climate in the country.

While in the United Kingdom, President Buhari will hold a meeting with the Head of the Commonwealth, Prince Charles in Glasgow, Scotland.

The President and his delegation will also have bilateral meetings with Prime Minister Johnson as well as heads of multilateral organisations.
President Buhari will be accompanied to the Summit by Governors Yahaya Bello, Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya and Okezie Ikpeazu of Kogi, Gombe and Abia States respectively.

Also on the presidential entourage are the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama; Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Otunba Niyi Adebayo; the Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Zainab Ahmed; the National Security Adviser (NSA), Maj-Gen. Babagana Monguno (retd); and the Director General, National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ambassador Ahmed Rufai Abubakar .
President Buhari is expected back in Abuja next Thursday.

Peruzzi react back at King Patrick — 'You sold my songs to individuals without my consent and didn't pay me'

Peruzzi has finally reacted to the CEO of Golden Boy Entertainment, King Patrick's claim of breaching his contract and being signed to Davido's DMW.

 In tweets which were deleted in 5 minutes, Peruzzi stated that he didn't cheat, take anybody's money or bite the finger that fed him. Reacting to claims of introducing the Golden Boy CEO to Davido as "the guy that shot his music videos", Peruzzi said he had an agreement with King Patrick to do so because he never wanted to pay Davido for "FYP remix".

 He recalled how King Patrick reminded him everyday that he was just helping him out and doesn't need the returns from his music. The singer also accused the label owner of breaking a "system" he recorded 27 songs in because Patrick had issues with his girlfriend.
