Court Orders Arrest Of Ex-Comptroller General Dikko
The Federal High Court, Abuja, on Monday, ordered the arrest of Abdullahi Dikko, former Comptroller General (CG) of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS).
The court wants Dikko to appear at the next sitting on March 16, 2020.
The order followed his continued failure to appear in court in an alleged corruption and bribery trial.
Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu turned down the lawyerâs explanation that the defendant was ill and on admission in London.
Dikkoâs lawyer, Solomon Akuma, SAN, had presented a medical report before the court But the judge said the medical report bearing the address, N6 Ahmed Musa Crescent, Jabi, Abuja, contradicted Akumaâs claim that the defendant was on admission in London.
The ICPC in 2019 charged Dikko and two others with inducing the Managing Director of Cambial Limited, Yemi Obadeyi, to pay the sum of N1,100, 952,380.96 into the account of Capital Law Office.
The fund was described as a refundable âcompletion security depositâ for the purchase of 120 units of duplexes as residential accommodation for officers of the NCS.

Nick Cannon Thoughts On Marriage After His Divorce With Mariah Carey
Nick Cannon has given up on marriage following his divorce from singer Mariah Carey, years ago.
In an interview with ET Online, the 39-year-old television host and actor made his feelings clear saying: 'I don't believe in marriage anymore. My mindset has changed. I have done that.' 'I don't like doing things that I am not good at.''
Speaking of bouncing back from his heartbreak, Nick said, 'I was a broken soul, but now I am back out on the scene.'
The Wild 'n Out host said: 'It's funny when they say "co-parenting" â that phrase is a little redundant. You can't co-parent, you have to parent, and that's what we do well because when it comes to our children, we're selfless individuals â they're first.
'You're reminded that it's all about unconditional love and they've got to understand that to its core.
'Whenever we can show that - even if weâre not together, [that] we love each other unconditionally â and become that fine example to our children, theyâll grow up to be good human beings, hopefully.'
The former couple, who share eight-year-old twins, daughter Monroe and son Moroccan, tied the knot during a low-key ceremony in 2008, before announcing their split in 2014, with their divorce being finalised in 2016.
After the divorce, Mariah was briefly engaged to billionaire James Packer, 52, before starting up a romance with her current boyfriend, dancer Bryan Tanaka, 36.

Mele Kari Speaks On How Electricity In Nigeria Is For The Rich
The Group Managing Director of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Mele Kyari has expressed disappointment with the state of power generation in Nigeria.
Speaking at the Nigeria International Petroleum Summit which provided opportunity for the signing of a $1.1 million grant between Nigeria and the United States Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) as part-funding for the Abuja Independent Power Project (IPP) in Abuja on Tuesday February 11, the NNPC Chief lamented that Nigerians are still struggling to afford a dayâs meal and that electricity is now "a luxuryâ exclusive for the elite.
He said;
âFor this country and very many of us in sub-Saharan Africa, what we worry about today is actually the meals of today. There are many who canât afford a meal a day. And of course, electricity is largely a luxury; itâs only for the elite, like all of us here.
âIt is the dream of very many to have I-pass-my-neighbour in their homes. When you say, âdo not use fossil fuel,â but you have not provided alternatives. The world has not looked at their situation. The world has not recognised that there is abject poverty in the communities.
âWe have to resolve the issue of electricity so that we can talk about renewable energy in the future and reduce the use of fossil fuel that has a high impact on the environment. We know that there is an energy transition in the world. With time, there will be less dependence on fossil fuel.
âWe have gas in abundance, we must create infrastructure that will help create gas for power generation.
âWe need power to create jobs and we must create prosperity, so that we can have peace in our country. We are grateful for this grant."

Femi Falana reiterates â I know an ex-governor in the South-West states who had a killer squad
Femi Falana, popular Nigerian Human rights lawyer, has said that he knows an ex-governor in one of the South West states who had a killer squad headed by a police officer who was the governor's Chief Security Officer at the time.
The lawyer said this on Monday February 3rd when he spoke at the maiden memorial public lecture in honour of the late Prof. Olumuyiwa Awe at the Trenchard Hall, University of Ibadan.
Speaking on the importance of state police, Falana said;
âMany citizens are opposed to the creation of state police for the fear that it may be used to haunt political opponents of some state governors. I know a state governor in the South-West who once had a killer squad headed by his Chief Security Officer, a police officer.
âOne of the unarmed citizens mowed down by the illegal squad was a World Bank expert. All efforts to prosecute the suspects have been frustrated by the state government. The story is the same in a few other states in the country. To that extent the fear of the possible manipulation of state police is genuine.
âTo avoid a situation whereby abuse of police powers is decentralized, any security service established by state governments should be democratically controlled. The service will be founded by the state governments and superintended by an independent state police council of five members. The members of the council should be accredited representatives of the state government, labour, women, youths and the business community.
âThe service will police the state and see to the enforcement of all the laws enacted by the House of Assembly. The success of the civilian Joint Task Force in the counter-insurgency operations in Borno State has proved that the best way to police a country is to recruit, train and equip young men and women to operate in their own communities.
âThe colonial practice of posting police personnel to operate outside their states or regions was meant to suppress and intimidate colonial subjects by strangers. It is a practice which has become counter-productive in a post-colonial state. Every police officer should operate in their community, speak the local language and mix freely with the people.â
